Yes it’s the Shawarma Recipe Compensation Disclosure!
This policy is valid from 10 August 2012
This site, ShawarmaRecipe.com is a personal hobby site written and edited by just one guy – me – a big fan of shawarma.
In it I share my recipes for the delightful food that is shawarma with the entire webiverse for free. Take the recipes, print them out, write them down – use them as you will. No charge.
Of course this website costs money to run – not much admittedly – but the hosting costs me around seven bucks a month. My time is free because this is a subject I love and want to share with everyone.
So anyways… You’ll probably see a few adverts over there on the right hand side. They’re a combination of Google adverts using Google’s adsense program – and affiliate adverts, such as for Amazon.
If you were to click the Google adverts I’ll make a few cents (please note this is not an enticement to click them, just a clarification). Trust me – my entire revenue since the site launched has not even paid for my hosting. Profit machine this site is not.
If you click on my Amazon shop and buy something I’ll earn 3% of that purchase typically. A $2.00 purchase of shawarma spice and I get six cents.
US FTC rules suggest it best I add this:
The compensation received will never influence the content, topics or posts made in this blog. All advertising is in the form of advertisements generated by a third party ad network. Those advertisements will be identified as paid advertisements.
The owner(s) of this blog is not compensated to provide opinion on products, services, websites and various other topics. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely the blog owners. If we claim or appear to be experts on a certain topic or product or service area, we will only endorse products or services that we believe, based on our expertise, are worthy of such endorsement. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider.
This blog does not contain any content which might present a conflict of interest.
So that’s legal compliance dealt with. Phew.
Now these adverts – while they earn me a dollar or so a month – they’ve actually cost me my site ranking under the recent Google search algorithm changes. I can’t see anything else on the site that would have me penalized, so it must be the adverts.
Traffic to my site is now a 10th of what it was – so the adverts that once made me maybe $80 a year will now make at best $8 a year.
So that’s full disclosure. Adverts are probably going…
